Wie bestimme ich meinen Hauttyp? Und was bedeutet das für die Hautpflege?

How do I determine my skin type? And what does that mean for skin care?

"All men are the same," we have had to listen to many times. But that's simply wrong. After all, men can be clearly differentiated into different types of skin. We explain which skin types there are, which you are and what that means for your personal hygiene.

We basically differentiate between four skin types:

  • Normal skin
  • Dry skin
  • Oily skin
  • Combination skin

Which skin type you are depends on various factors. Genetic specifications determine a lot, but external influences also become visible in your skin type: be it environmental factors such as sun, cold and air pollution - or how you deal with yourself. Keyword: care, sports, alcohol, nutrition, stress. This also means that your skin type can change over time and with age, depending on where and how you live.

To talk about skin analysis, two questions are particularly important:

  1. What skin type am I? Respectively: what properties do the different skin types have?
  2. Which care is ideal for each skin type?

Normal skin

Balanced complexion, looks healthy and well supplied with blood, is neither greasy nor dry and has an even coloration: For normal skin we also speak of eudermia. It has hardly any impurities and fine pores. It is the coveted state, the ideal that we want to go to.

How do I care for normal skin?

Do you have normal skin? Congratulations! You bring good physical conditions and a healthy lifestyle for healthy skin! Carry on as before, but: Make sure that your skin wrinkles with age and can become dry. You prevent this with moisturizers. As an anti-aging factor, you work with the Hydra Defense Cream .

Dry skin

Feels rough, looks pale to dull and can crack. Dry skin is not pleasant. It comes about because your skin produces less sebum and therefore has a lower proportion of lipids. They prevent your skin from losing moisture and form a natural protective layer on the skin that acts as a barrier against external influences. With dry skin we also speak of xerosis.

One reason for moisture loss can be excessive sweating: The moisture in the deeper layers of the skin is lost through evaporation. Your skin therefore lacks the natural moisturizing factors (NMFs), especially urea and amino acids.

How do I care for dry skin?

If you have dry skin, you should counteract it with the right moisture care. Because: You will be more prone to wrinkles than others. For care, this means that you want to add natural moisturizing factors and moisture-binding substances. Amino acids and urea are the top candidates here: they help men's skin become more fresh and plump. The Hydra Defense Cream brings these substances with it for daily moisturizing and also supports them with occlusive cell protection.

In addition, you should consider a few things in everyday life that are related to dry skin:

  • Drink little or no alcohol
  • Avoid dry air
  • Do not smoke
  • Don't shower too hot and too long
  • And, it can be that simple: Drink plenty of water!

Oily skin

It shines, has visible pores and likes to appear with acne, pimples and blackheads . Oily skin, also called seborrhea, is related to increased sebum production and is thicker than normal skin. The bad news: It is genetic and can also occur due to hormonal changes, medication, comedogenic cosmetics and stress. A small consolation: Oily skin is less prone to wrinkles, because others look old faster.

How do I care for oily skin?

For oily skin, you should use products that have a degreasing and antibacterial effect. However, too much degreasing can take revenge: if your skin dries out too much, your body reacts with excessive sebum production.

Try cleaning products that support a slightly acidic pH. Mild peels are also suitable for removing dandruff and improving the complexion. It is important that your care products are as fat-free and antibacterial as possible.

Combination skin

What are the properties of combination skin?

Greasy in the middle, dry on the outside: you can see combination skin especially in the T-zone. Imagine a big T in front of your face, the bars of which lie over your eyebrows and the torso goes over your nose. This area is prone to impurities, visible pores and excessive shine. The cheeks, on the other hand, are normal to dry and more likely to form wrinkles. The reason for combination skin: the sebum production is too strong in the appropriate places and too low in other places.

Combination skin tends to appear in the younger years and from about 30 years the skin will adjust somewhat.

How do I care for combination skin?

Dry and oily skin at the same time? This requires a little sensitivity, because good care wants to take both needs into account. We recommend: Clean your face twice a day with lukewarm water and a well-tolerated facial cleanser to remove impurities. Once a week, you should do facial steam baths and / or gentle scrubs for a more thorough, deeper cleanse.

Your care products should contain as little or no alcohol or perfume as possible, this way you avoid skin irritation. Important: A moisturizer that does not replenish excessively. Here we recommend the Hydra Defense Cream : it is well tolerated by the skin, provides valuable moisture and is antibacterial.

And what skin type are you?

Whether you have combination skin, oily, dry or normal skin: with a healthy lifestyle and the right care you can do a lot. Make something of it, feel good in your skin and #staysober!
