From the very beginning, our research has focused on finding and combining the most suitable plant-based active ingredients for skin care. Solid scientific studies have shown that microscopic inflammatory processes in the skin lead to the programmed death of collagen-producing cells and capillary vascular cells. The continuous loss of these cells ultimately leads to the loss of firm skin connective tissue and visible skin aging. Our goal was therefore to cosmetically heal the inflammation caused by various everyday disorders and to initiate the reconstruction of healthy skin.

We were the first to recognize that only a few vegetable oils have the potential to correct fundamental disorders of cell metabolism and cell growth. Only specially designed cellular test systems show the great potential of the active oils used in our products. The active ingredients transported by these vegetable oils are a large number of low-molecular substances that efficiently block the programmed destruction of skin cells. They are powerful antioxidants and normalize cell communication in the skin. We research, develop and produce exclusively in Germany.

Avoid the mistakes of conventional cosmetics

It is downright cynical that many chemical-based cosmetic products, mixed with synthetic preservatives and questionable skin-active substances, could actually contribute to skin aging instead of preventing it.

Our body rejects many artificial ingredients that are not our own. Regardless of whether a reaction is visible or not: each of these reactions is toxic. Some of the resulting toxins are stored in fat cells, while others can trigger an uncontrolled reaction in the skin.

One of the side effects is the production of free radicals. Studies have now well established that free radicals can increase the signs of aging and dry skin, as well as lead to fine lines and wrinkles. The chemicals used for this are potentially carcinogenic, i.e. cancer-causing.

Our products are free of harmful chemicals and preservatives and not only fight free radicals with rich, organic, antioxidant active ingredients, but also minimize the production of free radicals because the ingredients we use are not rejected by the body. Our products and their ingredients are not tested on animals.

Laboratory manager Professor Dr. Michael Schirner

As a doctor of pharmacology and toxicology, Prof. Dr. Schirner in the field of cardiovascular pharmacology in 1990 and received his habilitation in the department of pharmacology at the Free University of Berlin in the field of anti-metastatic agents in 2000.

In 1990 he started his career in experimental tumor research at Schering AG and was responsible for several drug discovery programs up to clinical phase 1. For his research work, he received the FU Berlin research award in 1996 and worked, among other things, as a visiting scientist at Harvard Medical School in the field of tumor angiogenesis research. Prof. Schirner has been Head of Research & Development at sober since 2015.

Prof. Dr. Michael Schirner is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is an applicant for over 170 patents.

Powerful cosmetics with scientific formulation

We have set ourselves the goal of developing a care series with highly potent active ingredients that is optimized for the specific characteristics of every skin type.

Our research led to the discovery that in some cases there is a difference between organic and synthetic ingredients: independent laboratories have examined the antioxidant benefits of both classes of substances and found that biological active ingredients not only have a higher proportion of essential fats and amino acids, but also a have a higher number of antioxidants and vitamins as well as mineral salts. These essential nutrients are critical for the optimal function of your skin cells and their repair mechanisms. This is one of the findings that we take into account in all of our products, as only an optimum of organic ingredients can lead to an optimum of care effectiveness.

Clean Beauty: 100% free of harmful substances

In all products, we generally avoid harmful carcinogenic, toxic skin-altering or, in our opinion, questionable ingredients, which are often used in conventional cosmetics, but which unfortunately can be found in most drugstores, supermarkets or even in luxury care products for women and men. None of our products contain petrochemicals, alcohol, artificial fragrances, silicones, synthetic colors, PEG-based polymers, sodium lauryl sulfate, nitrosamine sources, parabens, microplastics, paraffins, diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA) and no polycyanoacrylates. No products or their ingredients are tested on animals in accordance with EU legislation. All of our formulations are vegan developed and based on aloe vera.

Risking to sound too overexcited, this is really the best I've tried! My skin feels very soft even after the first use, and the effect never disappoints. Redness has improved considerably; pores, too. Additionally to daily cleaning, once a week I leave it on my skin for a few minutes, and I can feel a good but gentle peeling effect. Simply everything is nice about it, including packaging, look, smell etc. One small space for improvement: the dispenser sometimes chokes or gives out very little, but it recovers after another push.
